Healthy* Oatmeal
2 servings, may be doubled or more.
2 cups of water
1 C. of old-fashioned oats
a handful of dried, chopped dates, or raisins, or currants
a handful of walnuts, chopped
Cinnamon
(optional)
Brown sugar (optional)
Lowfat milk (optional)
Bring water and dried fruit to a boil in a 1-quart covered
pan. Stir in oatmeal, and up to 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
per serving. Reduce heat and cook for 3 minutes for Quaker's
Old-Fashioned Oats. Cover and set off the heat while you
brown the chopped walnuts lightly in a toaster oven.
Put the oatmeal in soup or cereal bowls, sprinkle with
walnuts, and add brown sugar and lowfat milk to taste.
